Pc Tv Converter

Watch TV Online With Satellite Direct

This PC to TV Converter Review will discuss the various types of products available that allow you to send TV programs and channels, movies, videos, etc. that you are watching on your PC to your home television.

If you have been enjoying watching TV, Movies and videos on your PC, using Satellite Soft or other providers, you may wish to take the next step. The next step would be to send the satellite TV, movies, videos, etc. to your home television via a PC to TV converter.

In this article, we will discuss three of the various types of PC to TV converters available and hopefully help you choose the right converter for your needs.

Three PC to TV Converter products available are:

Wireless PC to TV Converters

PC to TV Converter Cables

PC to TV Converter Gadgets or Boxes + Cables

Many people wish to use a wireless PC to TV converter. Through my research, I have found that a large majority of people who have tried using these wireless devices report problems with both audio and image resolution on their home television. It seems that there are many things that can disrupt the signal and cause the home television's images to be very blurry.

There were also statements of causing the PC images to blur while the wireless converter was hooked up to it (many would only hook up the PC to TV wireless converter while watching their home television, so they did not have to look at the blurry PC images).

There were people who were happy with their wireless converters, so this may be a good option for you. Just make sure you choose a device with a high GHz.

Many providers of PC to TV converter cables claim all you need is atheira cable to display satellite TV from your PC to your home television. Unfortunately, after reading many product reviews, I have found most people could not get their home television to display in high quality, especially if they used a long cable (over 6 feet). Most consumers found that if they hooked up to a PC to TV Converter box (gadget I like to say), using a cable, they could get a much better quality viewing.

PC to TV Converter boxes (gadgets) seems to win in providing the best quality of image clarity and audio. There are many on the market today, yet you will have to find the best one that is suited to your computer as well as your television.

One way to increase the quality of any of the PC to TV converters is to have the computer as close to the receiving home television as possible. This may be difficult for many people if their computer is in one room and their television is in another.

One solution I found to the location problem was to use one of my old (yet still working) laptops. I would first have it connected to the internet via DSL, and using the Satellite Soft software. Then I would connect it to my home television via a PC to TV converter gadget and cables. I set the laptop rather discretely close to my home television and no one was the wiser that we were viewing Satellite TV from my laptop PC on my home television!

In summary, of the three types PC to TV converter products reviewed, the one that came up most favorably is using a box (or gadget) with cables, keeping the computer and home television as close to each other as possible.

How does a TV to PC Tuner work?
Kmart online website has a Steren TV-To-PC Converter With Tuner for about $89. Has anyone purchase one or something similar to it? Does it replace the antenna or does it enhance the reception?

    • classicsat says:

It does not replace an antenna or other source.

What that box does is basically connect to your PC monitor and speakers, and make it into a TV set you can use inedependant of the computer. You can connect your computer to it too, to use your monitor for PC purposes.

PC to TV whats the best pc on tv converter?
I want to full time to TV my PC and need the best converter or graphics card I already have intel ati radeon 200 on-board..so Im worried about conflicts

    • aviatingamateur says:

      Depends on the TV..

If you have a flat-panel HDTV of recent vintage with HDMI or VGA ports, it is computer-ready. You can directly connect any video card that has DVI ports to the HDMI port on an HDTV using a DVI-to-HDMI cable (yes, DVI is compatible with HDMI). And if the HDTV has a VGA port, you can connect a computer that only has the older VGA port to it.

If you have the old standard-definition boob-tube TVs, then it becomes more difficult. You will either need a video card that has outputs compatible with the old TV (Coax, composite, S-video, etc.), or a scan converter box.

whats the difference betweenSteren TV to PC Converter/Tuner-TV tuner / video input adapter and an RF modulater?
i was looking for nd RF modulater for my old tv to hook up my new dvd player and the tv doesn’t have the red, white, and yellow plug-ins and i saw something that said Steren TV to PC Converter/Tuner – TV tuner / video input adapter is that the same????

    • classicsat says:

An RF modulator is a pretty simple device; essentially a little analog TV transmitter, which takes A/V and makes it into an RF channel.

You want an RF modulator for your situation..

The Steren box is essentially the other way, it is a tuner box which tunes an analog RF channel or analog A/V signal to A/V and PC VGA. You would get the Steren box to watch analog TV on a PC monitor or a video display which has no tuner, or for a video recorder which has no tuner.

How do I get sound through my receiver with pc to tv converter?
I hooked up a pc to tv converter and everything works wonderful, except I only get sound through the TV. Is it possible to run the sound through my Onkyo receiver and have surround sound?

    • montambault says:

There are cables that have a mini stereo plug on one side and two rca plugs on the other (you can find in most electronics stores for under $10). This would connect the audio out on the PC to a unused input on the receiver (I do this for my ipod).

    • Max Max says:

if you can get DVI out of you laptop you can get a DVI to HDMI adapter at most electronics stores or radio shack that will do it. theyre less that $10 and are passive. Also, a lot of TVs have VGA in already.

  12. George S says:

Im buying a pc to tv converter and i need to know what displays a better picture rca or s-video?

    • 17R3W says:

I’ll just echo the other two comments, you will not be very happy with SVideo.

It’s okay if you have a standard definition TV, but none of those cables will carry above 480i.

Because of this, you can read text on the screen (it’s just a blurry mess). You can watch full screen videos, and it will look “okay”, but that’s about it.

If you have an HDTV use (at least) a VGA connection.

    • Colanth says:

If you have an S-Video output on your computer all you need is an S-Video cable. If you don’t, it’ll look like old analog TV, because that’s what the converter really is. (And going through 2 conversion processes [in the converter] doesn’t help either.)

  15. Erje Erwe says:

should i buy a tv to pc converter that plays the audio off pc or tv?
the converters either play pc sound or tv sound. if the computer is a super computer and the television has a top of the line home theater system, which converter should i purchase, the one which plays sound from the pc or the tv

  16. David W says:

I’m using a scan converter to use my TV as a PC monitor but it only displays in Greyscale. What could be wrong
My PC’s too old to fit a graphics card with a TV output, so I’m using a scan converter to output the VGA display to my PC through an S-Video to Scart converter, but it only displays in greyscale. I’ve heard this is a common problem, but what’s causing it, and how do I fix it?

    • harry k says:

It sounds like you are connecting your PC to your TV, through the Composite input on your TV. Usually a “yellow” RCA jack. S-Video isn’t composite (per se). The color information is separated from the Luminance. Hence the gray scale. You need to connect to the S-Video input on your TV or get an S-Video to Composite converter. The image will look like crap though, going through so many conversions.

Where do you recommend I should buy a PC-to-TV Converter (wireless) from for my laptop?
I am wanting to connect my laptop up to my TV so the TV will show what’s on my laptop screen. I have looked it up and I thought that the best option for me was to get a wireless PC-to-TV converter.
    So 2 questions
    1) Where would you recommend to get a wireless PC-to-TV Converter (I know they’re expensive!)
    And
    2) Do you need anything else to other than this to show what’s on my laptop screen on my TV? (ei, audio cable, etc)
    Thanks

How does the Video Quality Look on a PC to TV converter Box through S video to the tv?
I have a HD TV that only has Component, Composite, S-Video and im not sure but i think it also has an HDMI port. My graphics card has an S-video Out to TV on it. I have used it but the picture looks blurry and makes it hard to read text from far away and the TV is a big screen (huge). I wanna know if a PC to TV converter Would make the picture quality look any better through S video since its a Converter Made Specifically for converting VGA to S-video (or composite). Does anyone have one of these and does it look any better?

AND i know S video is not meant for a super HIGH DEF picture, i just want a Decent picture that i can read the text surf the net and watch movies from my pc and maybe play games without having to squint to read the Shaky and Blurry text. In other words I want the BEST picture through S video Since its my only option (VGA to Component converter boxes are very Pricey and i do not wanna spend 100$ for one)

I was wondering if someone could help me with quality and price. I don’t have a lot of money, but would like to be able to watch a movie with out to much loss in quality.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • megaris says:

There are devices which convert your computers VGA signal to composite TV. Many new TV’s accept composite video, or even S-video.

I tried this route, but my computer is 25′ away from my TV, and I was getting AC hum on the video from them being plugged into different outlets.

I ended up using a 1.0GHz laptop that I picked up for $50, that had an S-video port that I plugged into the TV, and networked it to my main PC with a 100 MHz link.

I use it to watch stuff all the time now.

i used to love making vhs tapes of music videos when i was younger, now i donnt have cable so i want to know if theres a way i can play music videos on my computer and record them to vhs tapes

    • PoohBearPenguin says:

You can get a TV recorder for your computer (it may already have one built-in if you have Windows XP-Media Center)

This will allow your computer to record from TV or a VCR or cam-corder. You can then use a variety of video editing tools to make your own videos or movies, and then upload them for your friends to watch, or burn them onto a DVD. Windows comes with a very basic editor called Windows Movie Maker.

Meanwhile there are tons of music videos – both professional ones, and fan-made ones – available on the internet. Try searching for “music video” and the name of the singer you like.

How do I find more info on a TV to Pc Converter?
I was reading an article the other day about a TV to PC converter
being a good way to save money, especially for college students since
it does away with cable/satellite bills. I have found a lot of
information about TV to PC converters but I am trying to find
somewhere that is a more definitive source on how I can watch TV on my PC. Is
there anywhere that sums it up concisely and offers recommendations on
the best TV to PC converter?

    • classicsat says:

If you want to watch TV on your PC, with no cable or satellite subscription, your only choice is antenna with a tuner card, or from sites such as Hulu.

Nothing will magically get you cable programming for free. Software claiming to offer major programming sources from the internet are generally scams.

The Avermedia box mentioned is basically a TV to VGA converter, so you can use a PC monitor like a TV. You still need a source such as antenna or cable.

Best PC to TV Converter Box?
I’m wanting to take my PC and connect it to my 65 in TV so I can surf my PC and watch Hulu TV on my TV. I have tried various different connect cables and a video card that actually got a picture but the quality was not worth it. I want to use VGA out of my PC and convert it to RCA or HD to connect to my big screen. My TV is a HD ready Toshiba and it’s about 5 years old. My TV also has S Video and HDMI connections as well but I’m not sure if they would be suitable for convert connecting. I have searched google and found many such converter boxes, some are even wireless. They all say they will do what I want but I need to know which is best before I spend money only to be disappointed. I’m willing to spend a bit to get what really works but not more than a couple hundred tops. Any help out there?
Sorry this posted twice… why? I don’t know.

My PC to TV video converter stopped working. It worked fine for about a month, now it won’t work anymore.?
I’m running it from a laptop which runs Windows 7. When the computer first starts up, it works fine and the computer screen shows on the television as it should. But as soon as the desktop comes up, the television stops showing the computer screen, although the computer itself continues to operate correctly. I would appreciate any ideas or help anyone can offer, thanks.

  34. Erje Erwe says:

Should i buy a tv to pc converter that plays the audio off pc or tv?
the converters either play pc sound or tv sound. if the computer is a super computer and the television has a top of the line home theater system, which converter should i purchase, the one which plays sound from the pc or the tv

    • Matt says:

Probably go with the TV sound one. Even a top-notch computer, whilst the audio signal output may be good, the speakers etc wouldn’t be really up to it.
So let the computer send the sudio signal to the TV, then into your home theater
So even if you go the the 1 that leaves the audio with the computer, you’ll be better off running another cable to the Home Theater for the sound anyway….

      Hope it helps!!
      Good Luck!!

    • Daniel K says:

If you have the connections right, just make sure your computer or laptop is really putting out a monitor signal – if you know it is, then your resolution settings on the computer may be set too high for the converter. Go to – control panel – display – settings – then adjust the resolution down. That may work.

Also this converter is powered by USB, make sure you have it plugged into a USB port for it’s power.
